Installing the Plugin
If you haven’t already purchased the WordPress AnythingSlider plugin from CodeCanyon.net, purchase it here.
Download the plugin from CodeCanyon.net and unzip the files.
In the folder you just unzipped, you will have 2 folders:
Documentation
The documentation folder contains an HTML file that will redirect you to here, where you can view updated documentation, read about plugin updates, watch video tutorials, and more.
Plugin
The Plugin folder will contain a .zip file of the plugin AND a folder containing all the plugin files.
You can install the plugin by uploading the folder to your WordPress Plugins directory at wp-content/plugins OR you can install the plugin through WordPress by visiting: Plugins > Add New > Upload, then select the .zip file of the plugin to be uploaded, installed and activated.
Overview
Once the plugin is installed and activated, you will notice an AnythingSlider menu in your WordPress admin menu. The AnythingSlider menu contains the following menu items:
Slides
The slides menu links to a page listing all slides. This page is pretty similar to the Posts page or the Pages page in WordPress.
Add New Slide
When you click Add New Slide, you will be taken to a page where you can create new slides for use in AnythingSlider Slideshows. See the Creating Slides tab for more details on creating slides.
AnythingSlider Categories
The AnythingSlider Categories page lets you create and manage AnythingSlider Categories. AnythingSlider Categories are used to connect AnythingSlider Slideshows with individual slides. While many WordPress Slideshows are structured to create slides tied to one slideshow, this AnythingSlider Category connection allows you to create one slide that can be used in multiple slideshows throughout your WordPress website.
Slideshows
The Slideshows page, much like the slides page, will display all the Slideshows that have been created, and will allow you to select the slideshow you want to edit, delete, etc.
Add New Slideshow
This page allows you to create new slideshows. See the Creating New Slideshows tab for more details on creating slideshows.
Plugin Settings
The Plugin Settings page allows you to set default settings for your slideshows. Any setting set in the Plugin Settings page will become the default setting for all slideshows. As you create slideshows, you have the opportunity to use the default settings, or you can change settings for each slideshow as you create them.
Reorder Slides
This page allows you to drag & drop slides to change their order. As you create slideshows, you will have a few different options of how you would like the slides to be ordered, and using the drag-and-drop order is one option, but not the only option.
Plugin Settings
The Plugin Settings page allows you to set default AnythingSlider Settings. As you create slideshows to use throughout your site, you might want a consistent theme and consistent interactive behavior, so you can set default settings here, then as you create Slideshows you have the option of choosing default options, which will pull the options from here, or you can override any setting as you create a slideshow.
The available settings in the Plugin Settings page are very similar to the settings that can be selected when you create a slideshow, however there are a few settings that are set in the Plugin Settings and not set in individual slideshows.
The Settings available in the Plugin Settings Page are:
Appearance Options
Slideshow Width: This sets the width of the slideshow.
Slideshow Height: This sets the height of the slideshow.
Order By: This lets you choose what parameter you want to order the slideshow by. Options are: Drag & Drop Order, Slide Title, Slide Date
Order: This lets you order the slides in Ascending or Descending order.
Skin: This lets you choose which slideshow skin you would like to use. There are 13 slideshow skins: Default, Construction, Office, Minimal, Minimal Light, Minimal Dark, Polished, Shiny, Ribbon, Metallic, Minimalist Round, Minimalist Square and Portfolio.
Lightbox Theme: NOTE: This is the only setting that is set in the Plugin Settings page and can not be overwritten when creating slideshows. This setting is a sitewide setting and is not something that can be changed on a per-slide basis. The AnythingSlider comes packed with Lighbox Evolution to open lightbox links from Lightbox slides. There are several Lightbox themes to choose from, and whatever option is selected here, will be used for ALL slideshows throughout the site.
ResizeContents: This option allows you to choose whether the slideshow should be a fixed size, adhering to the width and height set above, or if the slideshow should resize itself to match the size of the slide contents. If this setting is set to true, the slideshow will remain a fixed size, based on the width and height set above. If this setting is set to false, the slideshow dimensions will adapt per-slide to fit the dimensions of each slide.
Vertical: This allows you to have a slideshow that slides vertically instead of horizontally. NOTE: If you use a vertical slideshow, you should also use a fixed-size slideshow, by setting resizeContents to true. Setting resizeContents to false and vertical to true can create an unwanted effect.
Show Multiple: This allows you to show more than one slide at a time.
Easing: This lets you choose the easing effect that will be applied to the slideshow as it rotates. There are over 30 easing effects to choose from. For demos on
Build Arrows: Set to true to add next/previous arrows to the slideshow. Set to false to have no arrows on the slideshow.
Build Navigation: Set to true to add anchor links for each panel to the slideshow. Set to false to have no anchor links on the slideshow.
Build Start/Stop: Set to true to add a start/stop button to the slideshow. Set to false to have no start/stop button.
Toggle Arrows: Set to true to have the arrows show while hovering and hide at all other times.
Toggle Controls: Set to true to have the navigation (anchor links + start/stop button) show while hovering and hide at all other times.
Start Text: This is the text that shows in the Start button. Many skins replace this with an image.
Stop Text: This is the text that shows in the Stop button. Many skins replace this with an image.
Forward Text: This is the text that shows in the Forward button. Many skins replace this with an image.
Back Text: This is the text that shows in the Forward button. Many skins replace this with an image.
Function Options
Enable Arrows: If false, arrows will be visible but not clickable.
Enable Navigation: If false, navigation links will be visible, but not clickable.
Enable Start/Stop: If false, play/stop link will be visible, but not clickable.
Enable Keyboard: If false, keyboard arrows will NOT work for this slideshow.
Navigation Options
Start Panel: This sets the initial panel.
Change By: Amount to go forward or back when changing panels.
Hash Tags: Should links change the hashtag in the URL?
Infinite Slides: If false, the slider will not wrap & not clone any panels and will stop at the end. If true, the slideshow will be “circular” and continue sliding.
Navigation Size: Set this to the maximum number of visible navigation tabs; false to disable.
Slideshow Options
Auto Play: If true, the slideshow will immediately begin playing after AnythingSlider has completed initialization. If false, the slideshow will not start automatically.
Auto Play Locked: If true, the slideshow will continue playing even if the user clicks on a forward/back arrow or selects a panel with the navigation. The start/stop button will still stop the slideshow.
Auto Play Delayed: If true, starting a slideshow will delay advancing slides; if false, the slider will immediately advance to the next slide when slideshow start
Pause on Hover: If true & the slideshow is active, the slideshow will pause on hover
Stop at End: If true & the slideshow is active, the slideshow will stop on the last page. This also stops the rewind effect when infiniteSlides is false.
Right to Left: If true, the slideshow will move right-to-left.
FX Options
Global Slideshow FX: This allows you to turn on slideshow FX that will affect EVERY slide within the slideshow and will replace/void all FX that are added on a per-slide basis. If you wanted all slides to fade, for instance, you could turn this on. This only effects this slideshow, so if you have a slide with FX Layers, those FX layers will be overwritten by these FX for this slideshow, but the FX Layers will behave normally in other slideshows with this option turned off.
FX: This lets you choose which AnythingSlider FX to apply to the slide. The choices are:
- Fade – This creates a fade-in and fade-out effect for the slide
- Top – This slides the slide in from the top
- Bottom – This slides the slide in from the bottom
- Right – This slides the slide in from the Right
- Expand – The
expand
fx is meant to be used on a panel that contains only one image. In the latest update, you can set the final size (the size of the image without the fx applied) of the image (but it needs to be as a percentage). Follow this format:'10%, 80%'
(‘fx size, final size’). - Grow – The
grow
fx is similar to theexpand
fx except it applies to the font. Just add the font size of the text’s final size (e.g.'24px'
). If you want to set the grown size (it’s80px
by default), add a comma and then add the larger/smaller font size, like this:'24px, 80px'
(this is opposite of the wayexpand
sets the sizes).
Times
Delay: How long between slideshow transitions in AutoPlay mode (in milliseconds).
Resume Delay: Resume slideshow after user interaction, only if autoplayLocked is true (in milliseconds).
Animation Time: How long the slideshow transition takes (in milliseconds).
Delay Before Animate: How long to pause slide animation before going to the desired slide. (This can be used with AnythingSlider FX, to fully show AnythingSlider OutFX)
Video
Resume on Video End: If true & the slideshow is active & a supported video is playing, it will pause the autoplay until the video is complete.
